Resources

Inside Justice Week offers schools the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the Criminal Justice System in England and Wales.

The Inside Justice campaign team has worked with the Ministry of Justice to facilitate "Your Justice, Your World", a brand new online resource for teachers and pupil. This new initiative launched in spring this year. Although we will not be producing a special teaching pack for Inside Justice Week 2009, you can still bring the justice system to life in citizenship and drama classes using our existing teaching resources. These include projects, teacher's notes and activity sheets, all of which can be downloaded below.

These teaching resources can be used at anytime to bring the Criminal Justice System to life in your classroom.

Thanks to the Citizenship Foundation for providing scripts from their successful mock trial competitions. The Citizenship Foundation is an independent charity which aims to empower individuals to engage in the wider community through education about the law, democracy and society. It focuses on developing young people's citizenship skills, knowledge and understanding. Its work also includes resources, training, active learning programmes, community projects and research. Visit www.citizenshipfoundation.org.uk for more details.

For other useful ideas contact your local criminal justice agencies who may already have schools programmes you can ask about. It's the perfect link to the citizenship curriculum for key stages 1-4 covering topics such as the local police, prisons and crime.
